Community Service
Under Pressure Basketball Academy is dedicated to serving our community. Community service is essential for personal development, positive civic engagement, networking, and discovering a strong sense of purpose. A deeper understanding of community needs motivates students to become more involved in positive change.
Students that are engaged in community service projects have the opportunity to take on leadership roles that hone their communication and problem-solving skills while instilling important lessons about teamwork and cooperation. Working closely with community leaders and mentors allows students to develop important relationships with productive members of our society, connections that can heavily impact future educational and career prospects. While exposure to diverse groups opens students up to different perspectives and allows them to develop a healthy sense of compassion and understanding.
A recent Time Magazine article, Volunteering May Boost Kids' Well-Being, revealed that “Compared to kids who hadn’t participated in community service in the past year, those who had were 34% more likely to be in excellent or very good health, 66% more likely to be considered “flourishing” (a positive measure of overall well-being), and 35% less likely to have behavioral problems.” Community service promotes future college and career prospects and nurtures a stronger sense of purpose and fulfillment in the present.
